Where do you work and what is your job title?
Starting next summer I will be working for Fidelity Investments as a full-time Associate Systems Engineer in the technical LEAP program.
What are your responsibilities in your role?
A Systems Engineer at Fidelity is responsible for developing and supporting existing and new technology for Fidelity systems, so this includes cloud computing, architecture as a service, and DevOps practices and configuration management.
How did you find this position and how did it connect to your career goals?
I had the opportunity of interning with Fidelity over the summer, but I was hired as a Full Stack Developer Intern and worked in that field, but my manager recommended me for Systems Engineer after I completed my internship. I had nothing but the best experience interning with the company and really hoped after my internship that I would be able to work with them full-time and I was able to achieve that goal.
What advice would you give your peers who are doing a job/internship search or starting in a new role?
Don’t give up when it comes to applications and applying for jobs and it is never too early to submit applications either because companies such as Fidelity look for applicants early into the semester and companies never stop looking to hire.
