About the Role
As an EHS Intern, you will work closely with our Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager to support and contribute to the implementation of safety protocols, environmental compliance, and occupational health initiatives. This internship is designed to provide exposure to various aspects of EHS management in a manufacturing setting, encompassing:
- Assistance with Safety Programs: Collaborate with the EHS team to develop and implement safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Participate and facilitate monthly safety committee meetings with designated safety champs.
- Environmental Compliance: Support efforts to comply with environmental regulations and standards, including waste management, air quality monitoring, and water conservation initiatives.
- Incident Investigation: Participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and contribute to the development of corrective and preventive actions. Work closely with technicians, engineering, maintenance, and others to design and implement permanent corrective actions to identified risks and opportunities.
- Training and Awareness: Assist in organizing and delivering training sessions on safety procedures, emergency response, chemical safety, and environmental awareness for employees.
- Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data related to safety performance, environmental impact, and health metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement. Present to management on any KPI’s or data that is of concern.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on relevant EHS regulations and standards, ensuring the company’s adherence to legal requirements. This may include OSHA, EPA, NHDOL, NHDES, ISO-Environmental, ISO- Health and Safety, and more.
- Emergency Preparedness: Contribute to the development and testing of emergency response plans to ensure readiness for potential incidents. Chemical response is of utmost importance to ensue a safe working environment for all within our facility.
Qualifications/Skills
Required:
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of EHS regulations and practices.
- Strong initiative to learn and participate in various interdisciplinary projects.
- Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively in teams of various disciplines.
Preferred:
- Majored in or currently enrolled in a degree program in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
- Background in and/or experience working with Chemistry.
