Mechanical Engineering Intern
Envision Technology, an innovative startup providing advanced electro-optical solutions for defense applications, seeks a Mechanical Engineering Intern. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting senior Mechanical Engineering staff with the mechanical design, layout, integration, and test of complex electro-optical systems and subsystems for defense applications.
Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to):
- Assist mechanical engineering staff in the creation of innovative new product designs at various stages of development (concept, prototype design, production).
- Assist in the design of prototype tooling and fixtures for engineering development.
- Help develop engineering processes, part library databases, and productivity enhancing aids for the engineering team.
- Interface with others in a fast-paced, multi-discipline environment, including electrical, software, optical engineers, program managers, and suppliers.
- Evaluate designs by assisting with prototype assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Provide support to production and manufacturing engineering, as needed.
- Generate associated documentation including detail drawings, assembly drawings, etc.
Qualifications:
- Coursework towards a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Basic skills or familiarity with any of the following is a plus:
- CAD tools such as SolidWorks
- Basic assembly, machine shop skills
- 3D printing experience
- Finite element analysis
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to interact with customers, suppliers, and other external personnel.
